Guided canoe trips on the Goukamma River in the Goukamma Nature Reserve – 15 minutes from Knysna. The trip follows the river through the awesome vegetated dunes on this coastal meander. The river is open to the ocean and a trip up or down the river is possible depending on the tide. The canoe trips starts from the Goukamma Nature Reserve picnic site and this is an unreal experience for any age group. Family groups and children are welcome. The river is extremely safe and is shallow enough at the picnic site to allow very safe swimming after your trip in summer! We are able to paddle about 6km up the river making a round trip of approx 12k for the hardened paddlers and more adventurous visitors. All equipment ( canoes, paddles, life jackets), transfers to the river, permits, and light refreshments afterwards are included in our rates.
1 – Walking/Canoeing Trip
Experience a full day tour with us. Spend the morning walking the glorious 9km Goukamma Nature Reserve, followed by a river–side picnic lunch and an afternoon canoe trip up the Goukamma River. The trip includes snacks, packed lunch, permits, and all transfers from Knysna.
2 – Mountain Biking /Canoeing Trip
Alternatively spend the morning on one of our half day mountain biking trips in the Harkeville Forest followed by a picnic lunch at Goukamma Nature River and an afternoon canoe trip. The trip includes snacks, packed lunch, permits, and all transfers from Knysna.
